ISLAMABAD: Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation rate during March, 2015 witnessed a nominal increase of 0.2 percent as compared to the decrease of 0.9 percent in the previous motnth.
On year-on-year basis, the CPI inflation general increased by 2.5 percent in March, 2015 as compared to same month of last financial year.
According the data of Paksitan Bureau of Staticitcs (PBS), SPI inflation on year on year basis (YoY) decreased by 1.9 percent in March 2015 as compared to increase of 0.2 percent a month earlier and of 9.0 percent in March 2014.
On month on month basis, it shows no change in March 2015 as compared to decrease of 1.0 percent a month earlier and increase of 2.1 percent in March 2014, the data reveled.
WPI inflation on YoY basis decreased by 3.7 percent in March 2015 as compared to decrease of 3.4 percent a month earlier and an increase of 7.7 percent in March 2014.
WPI inflation on MoM basis shows no change in March 2015 as compared to decrease of 1.1 percent a month earlier and increase of 0.3 percent of the corresponding month of last year.
The food items that witnessed increase in the prices during the month over previous month included tomatoes, fresh fruit, fresh vegetable, chicken, jam and tomato ketchup.
The food items that witnessed decrease in the prices during the period under review over previous month included eggs, potaotes, pulse, besan, masoor pulse, rice, fish and gram while.
Non-food items which increased during the period under review including cotton cloth, cleaning and laundry where as the items which decreased personal equipment and kerosene oil.
Top few commodities which witnessed increase on year on year baisis were cigarettes, pulse mash, pulse moong, tomatoes, fresh fruit, honey, condiments, beverages, milk powder and dry fruit.
The items which witnessed decreasing trend in their prices on YoY baisis incliuding potatoes, eggs, chicken , onion, wheat, wheat flour and rice.
