imageKARACHI: Sindh government as a policy has decided that recruitments, particularly those of teachers, in the education department would be made on basis of pre-hiring aptitude test under National Testing Service (NTS).

Provincial Minister for Education, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro on Friday said the department will hold, in a month's time, a pre-hiring aptitude test against 1425 approved vacancies for teachers.

"These will be particularly for the teachers who had been deceived to be inducted in the department some two years ago," said the minister while talking to journalists in his office.

Regretting the inconvenience and mental torture caused to the affectees, Khuhro said the letter were being provided with an opportunity to get recruited through lawful means and on basis of merit.

The minister urged the Teachers Action Committee, that had arranged the ongoing sit-in of the protesting teachers in the metropolis, to avail off the opportunity.

"This would definitely help the inductees gain a new confidence and satisfaction for being hired on basis of merit," he said.

Nisar Ahmad Khuhro in reply to a query said the protestors could not be allowed to take law in their hands or cause any damage to public property.

He acknowledged that it was some two years ago that 13000 fake inductions were made against 1425 vacancies in the education department.

It was found that besides others around 400 illegally settled Bengallis and 200 of other nationalities were inducted as teachers in the department on absolutely bogus basis, said the minister.

He said it were certain officials who taking advantage of their positions exploited PPP government efforts to provide jobs to the masses and issued fake appointment letters.

Khuhro said 12 of the concerned officials were in process of being dismissed, however, they managed to get stay order from the courts.

In reply to another question he said many of the victims had also approached the courts and are waiting for the judgement.
