Asim Bajwa invites foreign investors, as work on CPEC Phase II initiates
- Bajwa informed that the second phase of CPEC has initiated, which will provide further investment opportunities to foreign investors in Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt. General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Thursday stated that the second phase of CPEC will open investment opportunities and in the country and will also help revamp the basic infrastructure.
Addressing an agreement signing ceremony between CPEC Authority and Chinese companies in Taxila, informed that the second phase of CPEC has initiated, which will provide further investment opportunities to foreign investors in Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
Bajwa informed that under phase-II, new railway tracks will be constructed and existing tracks will be extended, which will further improve the performance of Pakistan Railways (PR).
He said all projects under phase-I, are being completed on a fast track basis. He said eight energy projects have been completed while nine projects are under completion. He added that two energy projects will also be part of phase-II.
Bajwa also invited foreign entrepreneurs to invest in SEZs in Pakistan and was of the view that foreign investment will provide employment opportunities in the country.
Earlier, Bajwa dismissed the impression that the pace of CPEC related projects have slowed down, saying that the scope has actually enhanced.
“Some detractors giving a false impression of CPEC being slowed. Not only pace of work on projects picked up recently, a great deal of groundwork done to launch phase-2,” said Bajwa in a tweet post on Wednesday.
