Pakistan-National-Council-ISLAMABAD: Children from various educational institutions of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad were enthralled in a puppet show organized here by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Monday.

The puppeteers used colorful puppets to express concern over the rising level of pollution, on the one hand, and also to ecourage kids to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. The show was aimed at educating children on the practices for protecting the environment of earth.

Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture at National Art Gallery, the show depicted folk tales and skits to entertain and educate children regarding social problems including health, education, environment etc.

The puppeteers depicted folk tales and skits not only to entertain the children but make them aware about the richness of folk culture and traditions also.

In-charge Puppet Performers, Zulfiqar Ahmad, who got training of puppetry from China, told APP, "This show is a regular feature of PNCA's activities for promotion of culture and traditions among the children who get quality entertainment with movement of puppets in vibrant costumes and characters".

Besides entertainment, these puppet shows are conscious efforts to explain socio-cultural issues and nurture a sense of responsibility among the children to combat such evils, he added.

A large number of students from various educational institutions attended the show.

The PNCA has planned to hold this puppet show by the National Puppet Theater on every Monday at the same venue and time.
