Bruce-Springsteen----WASHINGTON: Rock star Bruce Springsteen plans to hit the campaign trail for President Barack Obama Thursday as the White House race heats up in the final three weeks ahead of the election.

"President Obama is our best choice because he has a vision of the United States as a place where we are all in this together," Springsteen said in a statement distributed by the campaign.

"We're still living through very hard times but justice, equality and real freedom are not always a tide rushing in.

They are more often a slow march, inch by inch, day after long day.

"I believe President Obama feels these days in his bones and has the strength to live them with us and to lead us to a country 'where no one crowds you and no one goes it alone,'" he said, quoting his song "Long Walk Home."

The campaign said Springsteen would appear with former president Bill Clinton at a rally in Parma, Ohio before attending a rally in Ames, Iowa. Obama will be campaigning in New Hampshire.

All three states are among the handful of battlegrounds expected to decide the November 6 election.

Several celebrities have come out to support Obama through fundraisers and ad appearances, including rapper Jay-Z, actress Eva Longoria and comedian Sarah Silverman.

Republican challenger Mitt Romney enjoys the support of action movie star Chuck Norris and rocker Kid Rock.

The two candidates are believed to be running neck-and-neck after Tuesday's debate, when an aggressive Obama appeared to rebound from his listless performance in their first face-off earlier this month.
