Illegal allotment of welfare plots: NAB asked to provide copies of supplementary reference till March 4
The Accountability Court hearing fake accounts case involving billions of rupees, on Monday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to provide copies of the supplementary reference in illegal allotment of welfare plots case till March 4th.
The Accountability Court judge, Muhammad Bashir, hearing the case asked the NAB to provide copies of the supplementary reference to all the accused at the next hearing to be held on March 4th.
The NAB prosecutor, Suhail Arif, and defence counsel Arshad Tabrez appeared before the court.
At the start of the hearing, the defence counsel, Tabrez, requested the court to provide copies of supplementary reference.
The court issued notices to the accused persons nominated in the supplementary reference.
The bureau has nominated eight accused in the interim reference including Abdul Ghani, an official of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Matanat Ali Khan, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Samiuddin Siddiqui, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Najamuz Zaman, former director KDA Wing KMC, Syed Khalid Zafar Hashmi, additional director KDA Wing KMC, Syed Jamil Ahmed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, Abdul Rasheed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, Muhammad Hussain Syed, former administrator KMC, and Younus Kidwai, director M/s Programme, appeared before the court.
According to the NAB, the accused persons by misusing their authority allegedly allotted the government land at Nehr-e-Khayyam Karachi to the M/s Friends Associates, which incurred a loss of Rs3 billion to the national exchequer.
The accused used fake account for payment of plots.
