imageFilmmakers of Pakistan’s highest grosser ‘Waar’ is at war within themselves over the payment issues. Bilal Lashari, director of the movie has filed the case against the producer of ‘Waar’ Hassan Waqas Rana for the breach of agreement.

According to local media reports, Lashari lodged a criminal case under section 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the Kohsar Police Station on June 21, accusing Rana of depriving him of 25 percent of the film’s profit against the terms of an agreement between the two. However, Rana secured pre-arrest bail from the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Sikandar Khan on June 23. On September 25, ADSJ Raja Khurram Ali Khan dismissed the bail and ordered the arrest of the suspect who has, since then, gone into hiding while the police are still looking for him.

In the initial FIR filed with the Kohsar police, Lashari stated that he was also a partner in the film but Rana deposited over Rs 150 million in his own account, refusing to share any part of the earnings with the director, media reported.

‘Waar’ was Pakistan’s highest grossing movie with over Rs. 20 crore profits. ‘Waar’ is primarily an English language movie with few dialogues in Urdu. It is the first Pakistani movie which has been filmed in a foreign language. The movie stars Shaan, Ayesha Khan, Ali Azmat, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Shamoon Abbasi in the lead roles.

Owner and CEO of Mindworks media is missing after the director of the movie filed a case against him and reportedly police is currently searching the suspect in Lahore and Islamabad.
