ZAGREB: Croatia's teenage tennis star Borna Coric is to undergo knee surgery, making his November appearance in the Davis Cup final against Argentina uncertain, the squad coach said Friday.
"It is hard to predict the whole rehabilitation process after the operation... I certainly have not ruled him out," coach Zeljko Krajan told AFP, adding that the surgery would be on the player's right knee.
Coric, aged 19 and ranked the world's number 42, suffered a knee injury during the ATP tour in Cincinnati in August. Local media reported that his operation would take place next week.
"I will have more information and Coric's situation will be clearer within a month," Krajan said.
In Davis Cup semi-finals earlier this month, Croatia -- who won the title only in 2005 -- beat nine-time champions France 3-1.
Coric, already playing in pain due to his knee, was defeated by Richard Gasquet 6-2, 7-6 (7/5), 6-1.
The Davis Cup final takes place from November 25 to 27 and was scheduled to take place in Coric's home country.
