imageISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab on Friday informed the National Assembly that the government has no plan to privatize Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and no employee would be laid off.

Responding to various points of orders raised by the opposition members, he said that neither OGDCL was being privatized nor any programme of workers retrenchment on card.

He said that the government was fully cognizant of the workers rights and every step would be taken for protection of workers' rights.

He said the OGDCL employees has not only violated section 144 enforced in the capital but also injured Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and other constables.

"Employees of the ODGCL were well aware of the fact that that the government has no plan to privatize the company but they violated the section 144 imposed by local administration", he added.

The minister said that the Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has also ordered to conduct inquiry into the incident and the report would be placed before the House.

Shaikh Aftab said that the opposition was afraid of the government revolutionary policies under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

"Under, the Prime Minister vision, the country will get rid of not only power loadshedding for ever in 2018 but also there will be chain of road networks, vibrant industries and abundant job opportunities", he said.

He recalled that during PPP five years tenure, PML-N never indulge in a practice to derail the democratic process in the country.

He urged the opposition to come forward and play their active role for strengthen and flourishing of democracy in the country.
