ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement members on Monday walked out from the National Assembly to protest alleged raid on the residence of party's senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar.
The matter was raised in the House by the MQM Parliamentary Leader Rasheed Godel, who alleged that security forces raided the residence of Dr Farooq Sattar without any reason and arrested two innocent workers.
He also complained that despite threats to Farooq Sattar, he was not provided security and consequently he hired private security guards. He demanded to hold an inquiry into the incidents.
The party members also walked out to protest the incident, but later came back to the House on request of the government. Later, a couple of parliamentarians raised the issue of discrimination against minorities, especially in Sindh.
The matter was first pointed out by MNA Lal Chand who mentioned the killing of two minority citizens in Umerkot district.
The member complained of the indifferent attitude of the police towards the minorities and alleged that police were not registering a case and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.
His point was supplemented by Yousaf Talpur, who demanded to constitute a House committee to investigate the incidents.
Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah also expressed concern on the issue.
MNA Ramesh Lal demanded demanded action against the culprits.
