imageKARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has said that provincial government is trying to provide health care facilities to the people of Lyari at Lyari General Hospital so that they not need to go to Civil Hospital or Jinnah postgraduate centre.

This he said while talking to the people gathered there during his surprise visit to Lyari General Hospital on Thursday, said a statement.

He took serious notice that there were Echo Machine, Generator and lift were out of order.

He directed to provide Echo Machine within 24 hours while generator and lift should be repaired at earliest.

The Health Minister also took serious notice of non-availability of medicines and not performing of usual medical tests in the hospital.

He directed Medical Superintendent Lyari Hospital Dr. Khalil Pathan to improve the situation within a week otherwise he would take strict action against him.

While directing Dr. An Jim Principal Lyari Medical College to ensure that Gynae ward should work round the clock and normal and cesearan cases be performed.

The Minister also visited the ward specially established for the patients affected by heatstroke and asked the administration to enhance capacity there and to erect a big shade on the hospital premises.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Minister for Health further directed to provide hepatitis screening and vaccination in the hospital and ensure availability of medicines in the hospital.

The Health Minister took notice of a large number of quacks in Lyari and directed DHO concerned to take strict action against them.

Later, he also visited Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre and inspected on-going development work on 9th and 13th floor.

On this occasion, MS Trauma Centre Dr. Saeed Qureshi and MS civil Hospital Dr. Jamie Siddique accompanied the Health Minister.
