ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education and Interior, Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman on Tuesday expressed the government' resolve to enhance budgetary allocations upto four percent of GDP for the uplift of education sector.
In a meeting with Deputy Home Minister, South Africa, Miss Fatima Chohan, the minister said government has planned to enhance the education budget up to four percent of the GDP from two percent gradually.
He said the provincial governments and the federation are committed to eradicate illiteracy through spending more amount on education.
He said the country is facing a threatening problem of out of school children, which is around six million.
The gender gap at the entry level in schools is about 10 percent as more boys get admission than the girls however after graduation, the girls outnumber the boys.
Both the leaders expressed satisfaction that democracy is taking roots in Pakistan. Minister education expressed certain problems which Pakistan is facing right now especially regarding Girls education and quality of education.
Baligh-ur-Rehman said the country is facing a complex problem of the terrorism which has long history right from Russian invasion in Afghanistan and the resulting civil war.
He said the government has initiated dialogue with the Taliban for ensuring peace in the region.
Both the leader discussed the parliamentary functioning and it's composition of both the countries. They also discussed the functioning of the standing committees and their powers.
