indonesia-pakistan-flagISLAMABAD: A team of six prominent journalists from leading private and state media of Indonesia is currently touring Pakistan on a week-long goodwill visit program to obtain first-hand knowledge about the land, people, culture and political developments here.

They are scheduled to meet Pakistani leadership as well as officials and representatives of the civil society to foster positive image of Pakistan, a press release reaching here from Jakarta said.

The group of journalists has a good understanding of current issues in Pakistan and has a full realization that they need to look beyond the sensational stories as these do not reflect true Pakistan. They intend to explore the economic resilience, thriving democracy, vibrant culture and independent judiciary in Pakistan.

The Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia, Sanaullah in a briefing prior to their departure wished them well and said it's a great opportunity for them to visit Pakistan at this stage as for the first time in the history of Pakistan, the democratic government through its policy of reconciliation is completing its five years tenure. There is also a sense of transparency in the entire democratic process, he added.

The Ambassador also highlighted the existing friendly relations between the two countries and Pakistan's firm resolve and commitment to expand relations with ASEAN member countries.

The journalists conveyed their delight in visiting Pakistan and indicated keen interest in Pakistan economy, politics, culture and government's efforts to resolve similar challenges faced by both the countries.
