imageISLAMABAD: Prices of most vegetables and fruits Tuesday remained stable in the in the weekly bazaars of Federal Capital.

According to the rate list issued by Capital Development Authority Directorate of Municipal Administration, onions were being sold at Rs 120 per five kilograms, potatoes at Rs 136 per five kg, ladyfinger at Rs 36 per kg, white pumpkin Rs 40 per kg, ridge gourd (tori) at Rs 40 per kg, tomatoes at Rs 34 per kg, cucumber at Rs 30 per kg, green chilly at Rs 52 per kg, lemon at Rs 160 per kg and cabbage Rs 24 per kg.

According to fruit market rates, apples were available for Rs 90 to 180 per kg, banana for Rs 100-140 per dozen, mangoes for Rs 70 to Rs 110 per kg, cherries for Rs 260 per kg, watermelons for Rs 20 per kg, melons for Rs 35 per kg, peaches for Rs 90 per kg, grapes (Irani) Rs 150 per kg and dates for Rs 250 per kg.

It was, however, witnessed that vendors and shopkeeprs in various areas of the city were se;ling both fruits and vegetable at high rates.

Shoppers complained that most of the vendors even did not display rate lists. They appealed to the authorities concerned to take action against the vendors involved in overcharging.
