lahore-high-court 400LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned federal secretary for religious affairs for October 3 on a petition against sending favourite persons as Khadimul hujjaj instead of those who were selected through a draw for the purpose.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan passed the order on a petition filed by Ali Adnan and others.

The petitioners submitted that they were selected as Khadimul Hujjaj through a draw held for the purpose.

They said that list of selected persons were forwarded to religious ministry which changed it and prepared a list of their favourite persons to serve as Khadimul Hujjaj in Saudi Arabia.

The petitioners said that they filed a writ petition against ministry's action before LHC which ordered ministry to send persons who were selected through draw, but the ministry violating court orders had sent their favourite persons to Saudi Arabia.

As proceedings started, Religious Affairs Ministry's section officer Nasir Khan appeared before the court and said that the court orders had been forwarded to the secretary, therefore, time be granted to solve the issue.

However, the court took a strict notice of the situation and observed that the officials did not comply with the court orders but the court knew how to get its order implemented.

The court ordered to take the section officer in judicial custody, however, later allowed him to go and summoned secretary religious affairs for October 3.
