nicola 400LONDON: Britain's Nicola Adams became the first ever Olympic women's boxing champion with a 16-7 flyweight final win over China's world champion Ren Cancan on Thursday.

Having lost Wednesday's semi-final bouts, Marlen Esparza of the United States and India's M.C. Mary Kom were both awarded bronze. Flyweight was the first category decided as women's boxing makes its Olympic debut in London.
