The Karachi Port handled 72,826 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,084 tonnes of import cargo and 7,742 tonnes of export cargo including 3,836 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 65,084 tonnes comprised of 30,963 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,043 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,078 tonnes of chemical and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 7,742 tonnes comprised of 7,484 tonnes of containerised cargo; 258 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,836 containers comprising of 2,251 containers of import and 1,585 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 793 of 20's and 704 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 24 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 206 of 20's and 145 of 40's loaded containers while 345 of 20's and 372 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely APL Gwangyang, Botany Bay, Wan Hai-611 and Gloria Confidence carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Cosco Africa, MOL Generosity, River Globe and Da Cai Yun carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers expected to sail on Saturday.

There are three vessels viz. Hyundai Colombo, Oriental Freesia and Orion carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while another vessel viz. Ever Deluxe carrying containers is expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 163,351 tonnes comprising of 139,103 tonnes of import cargo and 24,248 tonnes of export cargo including 2,688 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 139,103 tonnes includes 33,248 tonnes of coal; 32,347 tonnes of LNG; 21,198 tonnes of mogas; 9,662 tonnes of soyabean; 9,598 tonnes of chemical; 1,700 tonnes of LPG and 31,350 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,248 tonnes includes 4,526 tonnes of rice and 19,722 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,688 containers comprising of 1,650 containers import and 1,038 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely SSI Victory carrying coal sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Diyala, Maersk Sentosa and Nordic Anne carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. APL Gwangyang, Tisntao Express, Flag Filia, Gant Muse, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, Gas Arma, Celia, Gas Amazon, Kazak and Tomson Gas carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. APL Gwangyang, Safmarine Ngami and Flag Filia carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Friday.

There is one ship namely Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while another ship namely Manet carrying containers is due to arrive on Saturday. There are two ships namely MSC Sabrina and Telemann carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
