Hammad Azhar relieved of Revenue Division portfolio, given economic affairs post

A few days after the portfolio of federal minister for Revenue Division was given to Hammad Azhar, the government has withdrawn him from the post today.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Azhar has now been appointed as the federal minister for Economic Affairs Division, local media reported. Instead, the portfolio has been given to Hafeez Shaikh, the adviser to the Prime Minister Imran Khan on finance, revenue and economic affairs.

Azhar, who served as a minister of state for revenue, was elevated to the post of Federal Minister for Revenue Division this week. The minister had also presented the federal budget for the current fiscal year in the absence of  the finance minister. On Monday, President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Azhar for his new post.
