Tech giant Google kicked off its annual Google I/O conference on Monday introducing a lot more than just new smartphones.

Google’s low-budget Pixel 3a and 3a XL were the showstoppers, but Google also made few more announcements including a new smart screen, updates to Google Lens among others. Here is a list of some of the important announcements made by the company.

Nest Hub Max

Google announced a new version of its Home Hub smart speaker named the Nest Hub Max. The device features a 10-inch screen and will come in with an in-built camera that can be used for home surveillance. Users can also use the camera to train it to recognize their faces so that Google Assistant can personalize the information it displays. Giving more privacy control, there is also a switch on the back that shuts off the microphone and camera. The Nest Hub Max will launch later this summer, costing $229, reported Business Insider.

Android Q

Google revealed more details about the next major iteration of its mobile operating system, Android Q. the software will incorporate number of features including Dark Mode, more easily accessible privacy controls, screen time management, and Focus Mode to temporarily disable the distracting apps.

Updated Google Lens

Google Lens app that uses a smartphone’s camera to display information about the real world around you, will also get several new features. The app will now be able to do specific things such as highlighting the most popular item on a menu, split the bill, calculate the tip, and act as a translator for multiple languages.

Next-generation Google Assistant

Later this year, Google will launch a next-generation version of its Google Assistant for Pixel phones that will be faster and smarter. It will also include new features including ‘Pick For You’ that can personalize answers to requests such as recipes. More advanced features such as ‘Personal References’ and ‘Drive Mode’ will be integrated to enhance user experience.

Google announced much more than these. It introduced more new accessibility features including Live Caption that provides captions for videos and podcasts instantly for deaf people. The firm also added augmented reality in Google search that will make 3D models accessible, introduced incognito mode for Google Maps, Search and YouTube, and soon Google Duplex will be available on web that can rent a car or book an appointment on behalf of the user.
