Astronomers to make ‘groundbreaking’ announcement about black holes next week

Astronomers have got everyone super excited by declaring to make a radical announcement about black holes next week, which probably might be the first ever picture taken of the mysterious object.

The European Southern Observatory reported that the team behind the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) project is gearing up for a huge announcement on April 10, which as per Science Alert, is likely to be the first-ever photo of a black hole.

If the predictions come true, this will be marked as a historical event for science, providing a glimpse, for the first time for humans, of one of the most mysterious, unique celestial objects ever. The black hole could either be the one located at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, Sagittarius A*, or one of our cosmic neighbor galaxy, the Messier 87.

As explained by CNET, black holes have remain a mystery for everyone, their extreme gravity sucks in any surrounding matter, including light, that falls within their reach. Once something falls in the dark hole, it can never even escape, which is why no one has ever been able to witness a black hole till yet.

Nonetheless, no matter whatever the ‘groundbreaking’ announcement is, it will be simultaneously streamed in six different locations (Belgium, Chile, Shanghai, Japan, Taipei, and USA) and four different languages around the world (English, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin). The official announcement will begin on April 10, 2019 at 15:00 CEST (06:00pm Pakistan Time).
