People continued to throng to water parks, public parks, seaside restaurants and popular recreational spots with their families taking full advantage of long Eid holidays on Saturday despite persisting blistering heat. This year, four-day Eid holidays were announced by the government combined with weekly holiday of Saturday and Sunday which provided a recreational opportunity for the citizens.
The reason behind fun making at the parks and seaside was that the school children were free and fully enjoying Eid holidays, as all the schools would open again in July. A very large number of families and youngsters went to the seaside in their quest to make optimum of the Eid holidays.
Life guards manned the beaches to ensure restriction, only recently imposed by the administration, on swimming and bathing in sea which did not seem to dampen the spirits of people. No major violation of the ban to enter into waters was registered yet although it was a tough job for the guards to keep vigil on ever growing numbers of visitors pertaining to all age groups and gender.
"There are people who do realise that the restriction is for their own good and safety yet there is also no dearth of mischief makers keen to take the risk," said a life guard at one of the spots.
The parks and other places which remained crowded on the first, second, third and fourth day of Eid included newly built Askaria amusement park, Alladin park, water parkers and sea sites.
Children clad in colourful dresses were seen here and there in the public parks, enjoying different games, swings, snacks, cold drinks and ice creams. Other busy recreational places of the city were the city zoo, Bagh Iban-e-Qasim and hill park which also attracted a large number of people especially the children.
Local singers were seen entertaining the visitors, especially youngsters, with their songs. Some youths were also dancing with traditional popular songs.
The families visiting the parks of city complained about over-charging, sale of substandard food items and non-availability of quality products.
