Civil courts have finally started functioning in the tribal districts of the erstwhile Federally Administrated Tribal Agencies (Fata), here on Monday. The first case of the tribal districts was heard on Monday in Peshawar. The civil court for tribal areas issued a notice to the principal of Government Degree College Landikotal. The court has sought reply from the school principal on Thursday. A student of the college, Nadir filed a petition on registration issue of the collage. Thousands of cases earlier pending before the political administrations of seven tribal districts have been shifted to the newly-installed civil courts that will hear these cases.
In the beginning, these civil courts will hear cases in the settled districts adjoining to the tribal districts and gradually proper courts will be established in tribal districts and judges will start working in that areas.
In this regard, administration of Landi Kotal Khyber district has shifted all 88 civil and criminal under trial cases to Peshawar and filed the cases with the registrar of the Peshawar High Court for further process.
In all, 28 judicial officers - seven district and sessions judges, seven senior civil judges and 14 additional district and sessions judges have been posted to seven merged tribal districts as members of district judiciary. Public prosecutors have also been appointed on peremptory basis.
Judge Shahid Khan has been appointed as District and Sessions Judge for district Khyber, Judge Nasruallah Khan for Bajaur, Judge Salahuddin for Kurram, Judge Kareem Arshad for South Waziristan, Judge Asghar Shah for Orakzai, Judge Asad Hameed for Mohmand and Judge Mamraz Khan has been appoint for North Waziristan.
