Zero-rated industrial sectors Power tariff notification issued

Power Division has issued a notification for supply of electricity to zero-rated industrial sectors at 7.5 cents per unit, after completing all codal formalities.
SRO.12(I)/2019 says that in pursuance of sub-section (7) of section 31 of the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997(XL of 1997), and, for maintaining uniform rates of electric power for each consumer category of Discos and K-Electric, the Federal Government has already notified the electricity tariff for Discos vide SRO Nos 374(I)/2018 to 383(I)/2018 of March 22, 2018 as amended SRO on January 1, 2019 including Fuel Price Adjustment (FCA) mechanism and for K-Electric, as amended for time to time. According to the SRO, in order to further renationalize the payments, Discos and K-Electric are to receive from its industrial consumers it has been notified that payment for the industrial consumers of all Discos and K-Electric be reduced by Rs 3/kWh which reduction shall be inclusive of any downward revision of FCA notified from time to time.
The difference between the relevant payment due from industrial consumer as per the SROs and special relief package notified adjusted with any downward revision of FCA, shall be paid to Discos and K-Electric by the Federal Government as per the notification for rationalization of process of payment of subsidy.
In order to further rationalize the payments for zero rated industrial consumer, Discos and K-Electric are to receive from such zero rated industrial consumer per above, it is hereby notified that payment from such zero rated industrial consumer shall be reduced up to the rate of 7.5 cent/kWh (inclusive of abovementioned special relief package). For billing purpose of zero rated industrial consumers the dollar exchange rate will be considered as the National Bank day-end dollar sale rate on the last working day of preceding month. The difference between the relevant payment due from such zero rated industrial consumer mentioned in SROs and special relief package for such zero rated industrial consumer shall be paid to Discos and K-Electric by the Federal Government per the notification for rationalization of process of payment of subsidy.
The notification unless amended or withdrawn earlier by the Federal Government shall continue to remain in force till notification of new tariff for Discos and K-Electric.
