After quitting by the Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans, the former Olympian Tauqeer Dar has been approached for coaching the men's national hockey team as a stop gap arrangement. Manager of national hockey team Hasan Sardar has approached Touqeer Dar in this regard.
Dar, who was part of the winning Pakistan hockey team in 1984 Summer Olympics said that he has been asked by the team manager Hasan Sardar to assume the coaching responsibilities. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is expected to formally announce Dar's appointment as the head coach once the talks are finalised, sources said.
