PPP MPA from Dir Upper, Sahibzada Sanaullah gave tough time to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), coalition partner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for second consecutive day in the provincial and accused it nepotism and favouritism in the distribution of relief goods in the earthquake affectees and Zakat funds in the district. Since his election in a by-poll, PPP legislator elected from the stronghold of JI is proving the arch foe for the coalition partner of the PTI.
The strong arguments of the legislator and support not only from opposition legislators, but also from a PTI MPA from Peshawar left the Acting Speaker, Dr Meher Taj Roghani with no other option than referring the matter to the concerned standing committee of the house for inquiry.
The mover in his question from the Rehabilitation Department have asked for the provision of the names of the persons, who had received the relief goods, the name of their union councils and provincial assembly constituency. But, complained that the Rehabilitation Department has failed in provision of complete details regarding the distribution of relief goods after earthquake in Dir Upper. However, Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister was insisted that a detail reply has been given to his question.
He said that the relief goods were distributed on the recommendations of a committee constituted by the district administration and comprising of the representative of Pakistan Army and local government representatives and dispelled any impression regarding discrimination with anyone in this regard.
The mover, who is elected MPA from provincial assembly constituency PK-93, Dir Upper, complained that though the number of affectees in his constituency was in thousands, but only few hundreds were given relief goods. Furthermore, he also alleged the distribution of the relief goods and compensation on political basis. Therefore, he pleads for the referring of the matter to the concerned committee of the house.
Bakht Baidar, a QWP MPA from Dir Lower also took the floor and alleged misappropriation in the distribution of relief among the earthquake affectees and demanded inquiry in the matter. Mohammad Ali Khan, a JI legislator from Dir Upper agreed with the contentions of Sahibzada said that as compare to losses, relief goods distributed in the area were very less.
Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F and Raja Faisal Zaman of PML-N also put their weight behind Sahibzada Sanaullah and plead for the referring of the issue to the standing committee. Sardar Hussain Babak of ANP urged the treasury benches for not opposing the referring of the matter to standing committee to prove any nepotism or misappropriation in the distribution of relief goods.
Fazal Elahi, a PTI legislator also supported the PPP MPA and said that they are against corruption and anyone involved in such practices will be made accountable. He said that he has already handed over proofs in this regard to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
