-Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here Sunday reviewed in detail various proposals for institutional reforms for the capacity-building of provincial departments. The meeting lasted for four hours.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that introduction of reforms in departments are essential for improving service delivery system. He said that solid decisions and measures are necessary for bringing changes in the lives of the nations. He said that performance of institutions can be improved through introducing a system of reward and punishment. He said that there is also a need to improve ACR system which should be IT based.
He said that Punjab govt has built capacity of institutions through information technology. The CM further said that there is a need to evolve an effective system for improving efficiency of departments for providing relief to the citizens. He also issued instructions for setting a 6-member committee which will submit its recommendations within eight days for institutional reforms.
Shahbaz Sharif said that vision, implementation and hard work are essential for success. He said that speedy measures will have to be adopted for changing the existing obsolete system. He said that setting up of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and the completion of 100-megawatt solar project is a glorious example of commitment, hard work and dedication. He said that time has come to change the antiquated system in the interest of national development and progress and merit, hard work and commitment are essential for giving a practical shape to the vision. He said that bureaucracy should serve the masses with commitment and efficiency.
Chairman WAPDA Zafar Mehmood gave a detailed briefing with regard to reforms. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Members Assembly Rana Sanaullah, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Advisor Dr Ijaz Nabi, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development and secretaries of different departments as well as concerned officers attended the meeting.
