ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that the nefarious motives of some anarchic elements, both from India and within the country, were defeated by timely addressing the demands of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Speaking at a presser outside the parliament house alongside Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, Tarar said that the resolution of demands about subsidy on flour and electricity issue is an example of efficient decision-making on the part of the government.

He said that no one will be allowed to create chaos in AJK, adding Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein and Pakistan has raised the matter of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir at every forum.

He commiserated with the bereaved family of the police personnel martyred during the protest and said the government would support his family.

About the economic situation of the country, Tarar said, “our efforts are yielding fruits as economic indicators are showing improvements with a downward trend in inflation and upward in investment”.

He said that international reports are signaling a positive trajectory for Pakistan’s economy.

Muqam thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari for timely intervention to resolve the issue.

“There were elements who wanted to use the situation for their vested interest and had nothing to do with the grievances of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

He said that the amicable resolution of the prices issue is a defeat for such elements and a victory for Pakistan and Kashmir.

This character will be the sole reason for embarrassment for the country in near future. Truth, it started 3 weeks ago, due to price fixing by extra-judicial police action and corrupt administration.
