Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has called for the inclusion of Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid in the investigation regarding the murder of Maulana Dr Adil, head of Karachi seminary, Jamia Farooqia.

On Saturday, Adil Khan and his driver were shot dead after armed pillion riders opened fire on them and fled.

In a presser today, the minister said the railways minister had warned terror attacks may occur during the opposition's rallies. Hours after Rashid's press conference, the terrorist incident occurred in the city. He should be questioned how he knew terror incidents may occur during the opposition's rallies, Ghani added.

The education minister said that Adil's son had mentioned security once during a meeting with provincial ministers. He continued that the provincial government was unable to provide security for Adil because of the 2018 Supreme Court order by former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar. Justice Nisar had ordered the withdrawal of security from unauthorized persons across the country.

Following his order, threat assessment committees were formed in all federating units, which were tasked with assessing and providing security to those deemed entitled.

The new order became a problem for us in providing adequate security to Adil, the minister said. "If the committee was not there, then maybe we could have given Adil the security he required within an hour, Ghani said.

He added that powers to deploy security resources should be given to the government so that similar incidents cannot occur in the future.
