KARACHI: Pakistan Railways (PR) is all set to float Rs102 million tenders for multiple works on the rehabilitation of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) Project, officials said.

They said that some seven major works cited in the tender entailed: removal of debris and solid waste from railway track between Wazir Mansion to Orangi, rehabilitation of station buildings from Karachi City to Orangi, Rehabilitation of bridges, foot-over bridges and platform shelters, supplying, stacking and loading of 2 stone balast at Wazir Mansion, and rehabilitation of level crossing in Group A, B and C, that is, level crossing No. 13, 14, 16, 17, 17-B, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 24-A, 28 and 30.

Officials said that in consequence of the directives of Supreme Court pertaining to the revival of KCR, a Rs102 million tender are being floated for carrying out multiple tasks on the KCR track.

The Project Director KCR Ameer Mohammad Daudpota said that the restoration of historic mass transit system for the commuters was no far away as its revival was amongst the top priorities of Pakistan Railways. "All the assigned tasks will be concluded with the cooperation of Sindh government within the stipulated time," remarked the PD KCR.
