Economic Officer US Consulate Lahore Mark S. Palermo has said that United States will provide vast resources for the poverty alleviation by boosting agricultural productivity in order to obtain rural development and food security of Pakistan. He was talking to the scientists and scholars of UAF during his one-day visit to the University on Thursday morning.
Mark S. Palermo told the scientists that US officials are interacting with experts and scientists of various public and private agricultural organisations to discover new avenues of co-operation after taking views of all stakeholders. He also highlighted the USAID program and future vision for Pakistan regarding mutual co-operation in the field of livestock and agriculture.
US economic officer expressed his concerns over limited storage facilities and ineffective marketing mechanism, which is causing hurdles in the procurement of agricultural produce. UAF scientists highlighted the various collaborative research projects and extension activities initiated by the University.

American diplomat later on visited the experimental areas of the University and witnessed the wheat crop at the spot.
