The Accountability Court No II adjourned the hearing of reference number 07/2004 against Abdul Qadir Tawakkal and others till 9 October 2007. The case was adjourned due to death of Defence Counsel.
The accused are Abdul Qadir, Abdul of M/s Tawakkal Group of Industries, Noor Qadir Tawakkal, Ex-Chief Executive/Director, M/s Naya Daur Motors Limited, Muahammad Rafique Tawakkal, Muhammad Farid Tawakkal, Director M/s Naya Daur Motors Limited and Muhammad Farooq Tawakkal.
According to details, the accused acted as Chairman/Chief Executive/Directors of the defunct M/s Naya Daur Motors Ltd (NDML) operating under the Tawakkal Group of Companies. During the period from 29 December 1994 to 20 March 1995, NDML through advertisement in the media invited members of public at large including banks and DFIs to book KIA Pride vehicles/motorcycles through 17 authorised dealers based at Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Multan, Lahore Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mingora and Kashmir.
NDML booked a total of 16120 cars on the down payment of Rs 39,000 for standard model and Rs 49,000 for an air conditioned model of KIA Pride vehicles and also received full payment for 645 units at the rate of Rs 300000 per unit. Thus the accused collected an amount of Rs 852,430,325 in total. The accused against booking of 16120 cars supplied only 1252 cars and thus misappropriated/cheated the public at large of an amount of Rs 753.687 million.
The Accountability Court No II adjourned the hearing of reference 12/2007 against Saddaruddin Ganji and Hashim Ghanji till 20 October 2007. IO filed application for time to search out the property of absconding accused, Hashim Ganji.
According to details, accused availed financial facilities from Allied Bank Limited during the year 1996 in form of letter of credit for the import of Palm Oil and did not repay the amount as per agreement and committed willful default of Rs 1122.623 million. The hearing of reference number 19/2006 against DSP M Ayaz Khan was adjourned till October 6, 2007. Examination in chief of prosecution witness was recorded.
