Venezuelan opposition leader says he's been barred from leaving country

CARACAS: Former Venezuelan presidential candidate Henrique Capriles said Thursday he and seven other opposition leaders have received court orders prohibiting them from leaving the country.

The move came as the country's election authorities suspended an opposition signature drive to recall leftist President Nicolas Maduro, citing orders by courts investigating government charges of fraud.

Capriles posted a photograph on Twitter of the court order barring him from leaving the country. "Once again they are wasting their time," he said.
