The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) said its eastern market indicator (EMI) rose four cents to 735 cents a kg clean at its sales on Thursday. AWEX said its northern indicator (Sydney) rose five cents to 746 c/kg, while the southern indicator (Melbourne) rose four cents to 726c/kg.
In Fremantle, the western indicator also gained three cents to 718 c/kg. In Sydney, the limited selection of 18 microns and finer remained unchanged, 19 microns increased by 10 cents and the main offering of 20 to 23 microns rose by five cents.
In Melbourne, price gains were again seen across most microns, with less than one percent of fleece passed in. 18.5 to 19.5 microns and 23 microns were around five cents dearer, while other microns traded at a similar level to Wednesday's sales.
The Fremantle sale saw further gains across most microns with 19 and 22 microns increasing nine cents, 18.5 and 20 microns were unchanged and other microns were around five cents higher.
There were 29,608 bales offered for sale, of which 5.3 percent were passed in.
Australian wool sales continue in Melbourne on Tuesday, July 12, with a sale recess scheduled to commence in Sydney and Fremantle next week.
