imageIt seems that the voice of freedom holds no borders, and finds its way through unexpected ways. That was happened in a football match played between Scotland and Israel on August 17, where fans flooded the stadium with a sea of Palestinian flags.

This was done despite the ban on political displays imposed by the Union of European Football Associations’ (UEFA) at soccer matches. The show of solidarity by the Celtic FC fans reveals that the support for Palestinian freedom movement is found in somewhat unlikely places, reported i24news.

The message was unsurprisingly taken quite seriously by the authorities, and the UEFA announced the opening of disciplinary proceedings against the team following the match on charges of “display of an illicit banner,” indicating to the Palestinian flag.

However, the fans of Celtic FC have risen over £30,000 to pay for a potential fine against their team, reported teleSUR. They are also raising funds to donate to organizations in the Israeli Occupied Palestine.

The funds would be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians and the Lajee Center, a Palestinian children's center in Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem.
