In a bid to promote sports activities among all age groups of the Federal Capital, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has decided to organise 'Mini Marathon Race' on February 9, 2005. In this regard, Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will co-ordinate with the ICT Administration to hold this sports extravaganza.
The decision was taken during an important meeting, presided over by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Junaid Iqbal Chaudhry in which officials of CDA and FDE were also present.
As per decision, all sections of the society and all age groups including women and children will participate in the daylong marathon race giving a fresh impetus to sports, which has remained neglected for the last few years in Islamabad.
Chief Commissioner also asked the CDA and FDE officials to prepare a strategy to woo all departments of Federal government for organising football and Kabadi tournaments.
The participation of the students of religious institutions in the sports-related activities should also be made possible, he directed.
