World Punjabi Congress (WPC) has announced to hold 'Amn Melas' (Peace Fairs) in different states of India and all the four provinces of Pakistan, WPC Chairman, Fakhar Zaman said while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.
He said first fair of this series would be held in Haryana ((India) in September this year which will be hosted by Chief Minister of Haryana, Om Prakash Chautala, in collaboration with the WPC.
Giving details of the proceedings and declaration of the PWC moot recently held in Chandigarh Conference, he said it was the 10th session of the Punjabi Conference in which 400 delegates participated, including 150 from Pakistan.
Fakhar Zaman said that the Chief Minister Haryana has also invited one thousand delegates from Pakistan, which will be taken from all the four provinces.
He said that the congress would also endeavour to arrange Amn Melas in other states of India like Delhi, UP, Bengal, Himanchal Paradesh, Andhara Pradesh and Kerala.
"Similarly, we would also organise the peace melas in all provinces of Pakistan," he added.
He also said that 11th World Punjab Conference will be held in Patiala (India) in October this year while the 12th World Punjabi Conference, which would be a mega event, would be held in Lahore from April 12 to 16, 2005.
It would be attended by 500 delegates from 25 countries. Chief Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himanchal Pradesh and other Indian politicians besides the film stars have made commitments to attend this event, he said.
Fakhar Zaman further stated that the recently concluded 10th World Punjabi Conference through a declaration demanded for promoting enduring peace and common cultural heritage of Punjab and urged that the system of Visa for the people of East and West Punjab be simplified and liberalised by permitting multipurpose visits and multiple entries.
It also called for creating an environment of free trade between, economic development of both India and Pakistan and to save the common people from exploitation by multi-national corporations.
He said that it further called for undertaking common projects for students, educationists and researchers in the areas of mutual interest besides promoting both Gurumukhi and Shahmukhi scripts.
