imageMOSCOW: Zenit St Petersburg won their third Russian Cup since 1993, the year the competition replaced the Soviet Cup, by thrashing 10-man CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the final on Monday.

Brazilian striker Hulk scored twice from the penalty spot while Alexander Kokorin and Artur Yusupov added further goals to fire Zenit to the the title in front of a 36,000 crowd at Kazan Arena.

Hulk put Zenit 1-0 up in the 34th minute after CSKA right-back Mario Fernandes fouled Oleg Shatov in the area.

CSKA levelled just two minutes later when Bebras Natcho found an unmarked Fernandes, who headed the ball on to Samuel Olanare and the Nigerian striker kept his cool to hammer home from close range.

But Zenit regained the lead on 55 minutes as Hulk broke in behind the CSKA defence, setting up Kokorin to tap into an unguarded net.

Eight minutes later CSKA full-back Vasily Berezutsky received a straight red card for a professional foul on Kokorin in the area and Hulk scored Zenit's third from the spot.

Yusupov rounded off the scoring on 69 minutes as Zenit ended their six-year wait for the Russian Cup.
