LAHORE: Pakistan Boys 16 Tennis team will participate in the Junior Davis Cup (JDC) pre-qualifying Round competition of Asia, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from February 29 to March 6, next year.
The trials to select a three-member team will be held at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, from December 27 to 30, said a spokesman of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) here on Wednesday.
Pakistan was the runner-up at last year's event in Malaysia. "Top six players, as per their current rankings and age eligibility, along with one wild card each from Punjab, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, will take part in the four-day trial", he said.
Players will be divided into two groups and two players from each group will be selected for the 2nd phase where all selected four players will play round robin matches for selection of the three-member team; the player at 4th position after the final trials, will be a standby.
Following six players are being invited to report at the trials venue on the mentioned date: Sahabzada Muhammad Ali, Nauman Aftab, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Shoaib Khan, Aqib Umer and Hamza Bin Rehan.
For wild card entries, all the three provincial Associations are required to conduct regional trials for the age group eligible for the 2016 event and send the name of their best player latest by December 15 at PTF complex, he asserted.
