imageISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani here on Thursday said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would soon inaugurate the Low Cost Housing Scheme for low income people.

The minister while chairing Board of Director's BoD's meeting on Low Cost Housing Scheme said that five lac housing units would be constructed across the country which would be provided to low income people on easy monthly installments.

Akram Durrani added that land for the housing projects has been identified in the four provinces and construction would start soon as Prime Minister approves Rs 500 million for the project.

The minister said flats would be constructed in urban areas where land is costly while houses would be constructed in the rural areas. The houses and flats would be constructed in areas where basic amenities are available,he added.

The Minister expressed concern over absence of some members in meeting and directed that their membership be canceled if found absent in the meeting in future.

Secretary Housing & Works Shahrukh Arbab, Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Muhammad Siddique -ul-Farooq, Secretary (Housing), KPK, Engr. Zahid Arif and senior officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.
