imageKARACHI: The Management Board of Mazar e Quaid e Azam in close coordination with Sindh Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and police has chalked-out elaborate security plan for the mausoleum amidst looming threats of terrorism.

Under the envisaged scheme, extensively deliberated upon in a meeting chaired upon by the Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, it was decided that visiting hours for public was also decided to be restricted between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With due care towards fool-proof security on the premises of the mausoleum as well as in its surrounding the participants of the meeting agreed that sharp shooters would be placed at the high rise building around the site.

The meeting among others was also attended by DIG Police, east zone, Karachi, Munir Ahmed Shaikh, Commander Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers, Col. Amjad, Additional Commissioner, Karachi (one), Mohammad Aslam Khoso, Deputy Commissioner, Karachi East, Agha Pervez, Resident Engineer, MBMQA, Muhammad Arif and Director, Anti Encroachment Cell, KMC.

It was decided that close circuit cameras would be installed, with immediate affect, on all corners of the mazar so as to keep vigil on activities taking place around with due care for heavy search lights in all dimly lit or sites with no light, particularly in the dark corners covered by trees and bushes.

Moreover, watch towers are also planned to be built coupled with barriers and concrete walls instead of existent grills providing open view of the mazaar.

Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui on the occasion said maintaining sanctity of Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah's mausoleum was a joint responsibility of the government as well as citizens of the country.

"Government will realize its responsibility with all sincerity and ensure tight security for a site that holds tremendous emotional value for the people of the country," he said.

Siddiqui said measures are already underway for removal of encroachments that has taken place outside the mausoleum premises.

Vendors doing their business through push carts have already been provided alternative space, he added.
