ISLAMABAD: Metro Bus Project Chairman Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said Friday that Rs 1.5 billion Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Depot project will be constructed near Peshawar Morr in record four months.
Talking to APP former MNA Hanif Abbasi said that Rawalpindi Development Authority has already announced prequalification of contractors in this connection.
Hanif Abbasi said that major items of Metro Bus Depot project work involved parking areas, building works, roads and drainage work and ancillary works which will be completede by December 25.
"To execute project well in time, round the clock costruction work of the Bus Depot would be carried out," Abbasi added.
Abbasi said that construction work on the multi-billion mass transit scheme was going on at a fast pace and would be completed by December 25 as per the given schedule.
To a question, Abbasi said, land has been acquired at Peshawar Morr area for setting up parking lot for Metro Bus fleet.
To another question, he said the land acquiring process to set up 10 bus terminals at points including Flashman, Mareer, Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Waris Khan, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rehmanabad, Sixth road, Shamsabad and Faizabad was underway. He said the terminals would have escalators, lifts for disabled and senior citizens, generators and public toilets besides security along the track.
To another question, he said, a tender would be floated soon for purchase of buses, escalators, lifts and generators in national dailies.
