KARACHI: Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Pirzada Thursday presented a cheque of Rs 5 million to legendary batsman and former Pakistan cricket captain Hanif Muhammad.
Minister presented the cheque on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the residence of Little Master Hanif Muhammad.
He paid glowing tributes for the contribution of Hanif Muhammad and said that a piece of land will also be provided to him to launch an academy at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre.
The Academy will be named after Hanif Muhammad for his meritorious and grand services in cricket for Pakistan.
Hanif Muhammad said he was extremely thankful to PM for his gesture and aid which will help him to clear the loans he secured for the surgery and treatment in London and Karachi.
He said he wrote a letter to PM for support which he had very fulfilled.
Speaking to reporters after the presentation, Riaz Pirzada said like everybody, he was also disappointed with the defeat of Pakistan in league round against the West Indies which sent former champions crushing out of the tournament.
However he called upon media and sports' scribe not to malign the team and the players because "Victory and defeats are part of the game," he commented.
