KARACHI: Members of Sindh Assembly belonging to Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) have approached Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for formation of a united and strong opposition group in the house, said MPA Faisal Sabzwari, the MQM nominated leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly.
Talking to journalists on the Sindh Assembly premises Tuesday, he said the opposition parties, without compromising on their individuality, are keen to evolve as a strong opposition team that may rightly highlight possible threats to public interest in the province.
Sabzwari said Members of Sindh Assembly are of the opinion that any attempt to slash agreed power supply to KESC would severely affect the industrial growth in the commercial hub of the country.
He said maintenance of law and order situation as well as protection of public life and property is the responsibility of the government.
In reply to a question he said peace in Karachi is a joint challenge for all parties representing masses in the assembly.
"MQM is keen to cooperate and coordinate will both the provincial and federal government for the purpose," he said.
The nominated leader of opposition in reply to another query said that his party was invited to join the provincial government, however, it preferred to sit on opposition benches as this could help it play a much better role in serving the masses.
