world-400BAHAWALPUR: A rally was taken out to raise voice for consumer rights protection and World Consumer Rights Day observed here Friday across the globe including Pakistan.

Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan and Consumer Courts have been set up in Pakistan for protecting consumer rights.

On 15 March 1962, the former US President, John F Kennedy addressed the US congress in which he formally put up the issue of consumer rights.

The day is observed every year since 1983 as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights. The impact of the message was also extensive to the world on the defense of the rights and protection against trading of goods that are dangerous to health and life.

Participants holding placards were chanting slogans for consumer rights protection.
