Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the progress on the Punjab Saaf Pani Project. In a speech in the meeting, the chief minister told his audience, "This project is directly linked to the public health and in view of its importance the project should be accelerated. Clean drinking water is the right of every citizen and the Punjab government will give this right to the people through this project. Billions of rupees will be spent on this project during the next three years and the scope of this project will be expanded to the whole province under a phased program."
He also said Provincial Housing Minister Tanvir Aslam Malik should regularly monitor the progress, with the Saaf Pani Company taking decision on present and future steps. The meeting also drew in Finance Minister Doctor Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, the Planning and Development chairman, secretaries of Housing, Law and Finance and Information, the Punjab Information Technology Board chairman and Punjab Saaf Pani Company officials.
