HRW wheat bids weaker

Spot cash basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady to softer in the southern US Plains on Tuesday, reflecting a recent pickup in grain movement from the country, dealers said. But fresh farmer selling was slow as K.C. hard red winter wheat futures retreated from 5-1/2-month highs set last week. Rains in the last day stalled harvest progress, with roughly 3 inches (7.6 inches) falling in south-central Kansas, one merchandiser said. The USDA said the US winter wheat harvest was 55 percent complete, with progress reaching 79 percent in Kansas, 94 percent in Oklahoma and 87 percent in Texas.
