CHICAGO: Spot basis offers for US soymeal were steady to weak at processors serving the truck market on Thursday, dealers said.
Rail market offers were unchanged.
Some end users were booking deals for truckloads of soymeal to ensure they had enough supplies to last through the end of the month.
Buyers also were locking in prices for soymeal that will be shipped in deferred months.
Weakness in the futures market was sparking interest in new deals. The most-active soymeal futures contract fell to its lowest since May 28 during Thursday's trading session.
The US Agriculture Department on Thursday morning that soymeal export sales totaled 214,800 tonnes in the latest reporting week, in line with forecasts that ranged from 50,000 to 300,000 tonnes.
Dealers began rolling their basis offers to the Chicago Board of Trade September futures contract from the August contract .
At 10:37 a.m. CDT (1537 GMT), CBOT August soymeal futures were down 20 cents at $307.30 a ton. The September contract was down 20 cents at $308.80 a ton.
