Several illegal buildings, shops, structures demolished in anti-encroachment drive

PESHAWAR: The district administration removed encroachments in midnight operation launched against buildings and structures illegally erected on government land here on Thursday.

The anti-encroachment force of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) equipped with heavy machinery conducted anti-encroachment operations in the presence of law enforcement personnel in the city.

Supervised by Saleem Khan, Town Municipal Administrator (TMO) along with staff demolished hundreds of sheds, structures and thatches on footpaths at various places of the metropolis including Momin town, Dilazak road, Nishtarabad, Faqirabad and Hashtnagri.

The TMO said those encroachments were erected on roads, footpaths and under flyovers at those places and added no one would be allowed to take law into his own hands and encroachers would be dealt with sternly.

He said that operation would continue indiscriminately to clear roods from all kinds of encroachment for ensuring smooth flow of traffic.

He said that report had been forwarded to the town Nazim-one and added that encroachments under flyover at Faqirabad had been removed to develop a green belt and plant trees there.

The administration is also taking stringent measures to ensure the quality of edible items at affordable prices to citizens and imposed fines on shopkeepers for overcharging or violating hygiene standards.
