PCB’s Wasim Khan aims to make Pakistan leader ‘in all three formats’
The incoming managing director of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan has said that the lackluster performance while playing out of UAE is the biggest challenge faced by Pakistan cricket team, as he aims to make Pakistan a top cricketing force in all three formats.
“Purely from a playing perspective, there is a level of inconsistency when playing away from UAE, but I don't think Pakistan are alone in that and I think various countries face issues when they play abroad in alien conditions,” said Wasim, quoted PakPassion.net.
The newly appointed PCB’s MD was of the view that the team also needs to improve in other formats of cricket especially Test cricket. “We would also like them to climb up that ladder of the ICC Test rankings. We are right up there in terms of Twenty20 cricket rankings, but we want to be the leaders in all three formats and that has to be an aim,” he said.
However, Khan admitted that it would take a lot of hard work, but he was optimistic with the talent and man power on hand.
Speaking about PCB’s structural issues, Khan opined that there is a need to ‘professionalise’ the cricketing board. “As I have said before, the priorities will be about getting systems and processes right, getting the people to do the right things and getting people focused, improving our communications and making sure we are on top of things like that, he added.
