The Canadian dollar was trading 0.2pc higher at 1.3366 to the greenback, or 74.82 U.S. cents, having touched its weakest intraday level since Aug. 4 at 1.3420.
The rouble crashed to its weakest level since late March of 79.9750 versus the dollar this week but by 1400 GMT on Wednesday it was up 1.7pc on the day at 77.78 against the greenback.
The State Bank of Pakistan reported that in interbank trading, the price of euro appreciated by 60 paisas and closed at Rs. 194.33 against the last day’s trading of Rs. 193.73.
The dollar index against a basket of currencies crept above the 94 mark, after two days of losses that followed the dollar reaching a two-month high last week.
Spot gold fell 0.6pc to $1,886.78 per ounce by 0812 GMT, declining 4.2pc so far in the month in what would be its worst monthly performance since November 2016.
The State Bank of Pakistan reported that in interbank trading, the price of euro appreciated by 63 paisas and closed at Rs. 193.73 against the last day’s trading of Rs. 193.10.
